It is an online discussion about anything under the sun. As long as you feel like posting it and waiting for the suggestions or comments of other people.
Scroll down and look at the stuff further down on the homepage. Do the graphics and text make sense? Or is it confusing & boring?
Yes, it is. The graphics and text made the website more unique and catchy to the eyes of the users. It gives an idea to the people how does the online discussion works.
Any other thoughts or feedback?
Below "Place it at forum.yourwebsite.com", "open source" and "our community" can click whereas there are navigation keys on the right upper portion. I found it as a redundant. You might consider choosing the navigation keys on the right upper portion.

Here you can start a discussion forum.

No.

It's a discussion forum product which is influenced by other products such as Slack. It can be embedded into your website.
Scroll down and look at the stuff further down on the homepage. Do the graphics and text make sense? Or is it confusing & boring?
- I think the name "Effective discussions" shouldn't be used as a headline. In fact, the "Create a discussion forum..." sentence would make a more enticing headline.
- The screenshots are good, although the overlapping images and different sizes is a little unfinished.
- The first comment I saw in the screenshot was "Demo chat". This makes it feel like it's not a real product yet.
- The videos look very compressed on my high res screen. Perhaps you could provide these at higher quality.
Any other thoughts or feedback?
- I am not sure why you would use this product over the alternative products you mention. I think this needs some explanation as to what those other products are missing. Perhaps explaining why you built it would help people understand it's advantage over the competitors.
- The headlines are a little vague. "Help your users" or "Make better decisions" could apply to any product. So perhaps these need to be more specific. In fact, the descriptive text for each section is good, so perhaps these could be used to create headlines.
- The "Make better decisions" image has been squashed, which looks a little off.
- You say that it's free and open source, but then have a pricing page with prices (starting Oct). I think this is confusing for users. I think part of the reason it's confusing is because the free version is on the right. Most pricing pages start with cheapest > most expensive from left to right.
- The about page needs some design attention, and there are a few typos and areas where the grammar is a little off.
- The "code" link probably shouldn't be in the main navigation, as more users don't need to view that page. Perhaps it could be linked in the footer.
I think the site could benefit from some design attention, and also some copywriting attention. But it's a good base to work from.
I hope that helps.

Hi! Thanks a lot for the feedback :- ) This feels very helpful yes. Ok I'll try to fix all these things. And, about the title, and about why one would use this over the alternatives — I'm wondering if I change to this:
Create a community where good solutions and ideas rise to the top, leading to better decisions. Brings together the best from Slack, Discourse, StackOverflow, Reddit, Disqus.
better explains why this can (in some cases) be better than the alternatives?
(i.e. finding the good ideas and answers, and in that way getting the chance to make better decisions (well in my experience).)
(Ok yes the design can be improved, and good to know that there are grammar errors — I'm not really a designer and English isn't my native language :- ))
- JJed Lehmann @jed
I think your suggested text is a vast improvement! Definitely go with that.
Good luck with the other aspects too.
- K@KajMagnus
Ok, thanks :- )

Look at the website for 10 - 20 seconds. What do you think it is about?
It's about a software platform that you put on your own server which allows for people to get together and share ideas and the best ones are pushed to the top. Like your own self hosted Reddit website.
Scroll down and look at the stuff further down on the homepage. Do the graphics and text make sense? Or is it confusing & boring?
I'd make this area pop a bit more, maybe with colorful images and a headline and text: EffectiveDiscussions is good for:

Recommend to change Navigate large discussions to Effectively navigate discussions
This image on the home page seems stretched: https://www.effectivediscussions.org/-/u/3/x/ap/nywyk2gzv3uwgv3vzyd2buj6obplfb.jpgWhen the content on the home page is split into half with alternating images, seems like the text is a bit too light. Recommend to add more text or increase the size of the images to compensate.
For your Free Trial CTA, how about testing Start a New Community? Also you have View Demo and your "Buy Now" button the same weight. Perhaps consider giving "Buy Now" more weight?
How about adding some stats about how many people in total are using this product...if live even better? Like X number of users, X number of forums, threads, discussions, page views etc etc
- K@KajMagnus
Thanks, and these tips & ideas sounds good. About testimonials: Right now not many people use this. I'm trying to make the homepage more understandable, before telling "many" people about it :- )
- In reply tochocoheadfred⬆:K@KajMagnus
Now I've made most of the changes you suggested — if you want to, have a look and see how it turned out :- )
(the image that is a bit stretched — yes otherwise it gets a bit too tall I think. Anyway now I made it a bit less stretched, = a little bit taller.)- CFreddie @chocoheadfred
I'd still say more icons and/or larger images and less words.
I still think Start a Community deserves for eyeshare, perhaps 70% (rather than 50%). Recommend to either place it above View Demo or to the left of it. What do your eye tracking studies and/or heat maps say?
- K@KajMagnus
Ok, thanks for the feedback :- ) Interesting idea, to place Create-a-community to the left of View Demo. I could experiment a bit with that.
Ok I'll look into making the text larger. I've become a bit home blind, I need to reset my brain somehow to be able to see if it's a good size.
I actually haven't enabled any heat maps or eye tracking. Maybe I should pay for sth like Hotjar — i tested their free plan a while ago but I think they then didn't let me see what happened below-the-fold. Maybe I should pay $30 for a few months, to find out. Good idea, thanks :- )

An Open Source discussion forum software with paid Premium option.
Scroll down and look at the stuff further down on the homepage. Do the graphics and text make sense? Or is it confusing & boring?
Everything does make sense, but I'd add some more selling elements, like main features, testimonials, advantages in comparison to other popular solutions.
Any other thoughts or feedback?
I suggest you add some nice graphic (or video) background in the Above The Fold section. Solid white background doesn't help in branding or building any mood.
Also, instead multiple small videos you could use GIFs to lower bandwidth usage and increase the number of users that are able to see it.
- K@KajMagnus
Thanks for the feedback. Interesting that I need to be clearer about main features. Ok I should experiment a bit with background colors.
Actually as far as I've seen, GIFs are fairly large. The videos on the homepage are instead compressed mp4 videos, sometimes so small so the quality is a bit so-so, just to save bandwidth. They should be compatible with iPhone and Android at least.

It's a way to gather information from people and organize or prioritize it. I feel confused as to what the site is selling.
Scroll down and look at the stuff further down on the homepage. Do the graphics and text make sense? Or is it confusing & boring?
I'm sorry to say I was generally bored. I think this is because I couldn't figure out if the offer had any value to me. I couldn't really decide what the offer was. So perhaps it had no relevance to my goals. I publish a blog about WordPress mobile speed using non-coding solutions. I couldn't figure out how I might benefit.
Any other thoughts or feedback?
Sorry that I don't get it. I'm sure someone will understand it's value. I also looked at the About and Pricing page to try and get an idea of what it was you were really selling. The Pricing page made it look like you were selling hosting services. The About page didn't give me a sense of credibility because you changed locations and jobs often. It seemed flaky and confusing like you weren't sure what you wanted to do with your life. Indecisive? I realize this may not be the case, but it is my first impressions. Those count.
The site is clean and easy to navigate but marketing communications needs work.
- K@KajMagnus
Thanks, especially interesting to read your thoughts about the About page, and changing jobs.
